I think we are seeing Atlas Shrugged playing out in California. HL Mencken wrote that people get the government they deserve and they get it good and hard. All of the NIMBYs and regulators opposing refinery expansion are responsible for this fiasco. Maybe there will be a "Winter of discontent" in California to wake these infantile dreamers out of their green fantasy. I hope we see something along the lines of the food riots throughout North Africa, but this time it will be gas riots. Then all of those arrogant *sses in the media will have to confront the fact that environmentalists and leftists oppose the poor and social development. Social development has nothing to do with social justice in fact, its about building infrastructure and liberalizing trade and markets.
