Electric car travels around the world for first time

It wasn’t quite eighty days – more like eight months – but the Citroen C-ZERO (pictured) has become the first 100 per cent electric car to drive around the world. Driven by a two-man team, made up of Antonin Guy, 28, and Xavier Degon, 27, the vehicle navigated across 17 countries, covering 15,500 miles over an eight month period needing just £202 of electricity. The so-called “Electric Odyssey” began in February in Strasbourg, France, with the Citroen C-ZERO making its way across Europe, North America, South East Asia, China, Japan and Russia before making its way back to Strasbourg. The duo had plenty of support along their journey: with members of the public donating plug sockets that provided the C-ZERO with its daily charge.
