Wayne Gerdes – CleanMPG – Dec. 25, 2015 According to the EPA, most large manufacturers achieved fleet GHG compliance values equal to or lower than required by their unique 2014 standard. In its 2014 Light Duty Fuel Economy Trends report, it showed that most manufacturers have been playing nice with regards to their GHG emissions targets. Unfortunately there are numerous loopholes allowing great reporting without actually moving the bar thanks to credits on everything from E85 pickup trucks to refrigerant change outs. In any case, ten of the twelve manufacturers with sales greater than 100,000 vehicles reported meeting or beating their standard, with margins of compliance ranging from 28 grams/mile (Subaru) to exactly meeting their standard with no margin (Fiat Chrysler).
