RussianAutoVAZ will unveil El LADA electric car at the Moscow Auto Show slated for Aug.29 to Sep.9. The EL LADA EVs will roll off the assembly line this fall at their plant in Togliatti in central Russia's Samara region. The first batch of EL LADA electric cars will go to taxi operators in the southern Stavropol region. Base on the Lada Kalina, the EL LADA can travel 150km (93 miles) on a single charge at speeds of up to 130km/h (80 mph). Recharging its batteries takes 8 hours. Except the car's body frame, all other parts of the model are foreign made. EL LADA will use Chinese electric battery, and other parts are made in Switzerland. According to the manufacturer's website, the price of an EL LADA hovers around one million rubles ($33,000). [source: Electric Cars Report , The Voice of Russia ]
