Electric cars head to the Alps for third e-miglia: The third e-miglia electric car rally got underway at the wee...

The third e-miglia electric car rally got underway at the weekend, returning once again to Munich for an epic journey across the Alps. Kicking off last Sunday (August 12) and taking in four countries over the course of four days, the rally stages cover a total of 800km and have a 11.822 difference in altitude uphill. All vehicles taking part in the event are fully electric and come in a variety of two, three and four-wheel forms. Competitors this year include BMW Mini E, Lampo3, Mercedes A-Class E-Cell, Nissan Leaf, Peugeot iON, Tesla Roadster, TWIKE Active, Zerotracer and Zero Motorcycle. Having headed through Rosenheim, Germany and then onto to Saltzburg and Bruck in Austria, by the end of the third day (today), the competitors will arrive in Bolzano in northern Italy.
