Electric LEAFs fast charge round Europe: An electric car journey-claimed to be the longest achieved in a 42 day

An electric car journey-claimed to be the longest achieved in a 42 day period-has proved the advantages that fast-charging can offer to these low emission cars. A huge 12,500 km (7,767 miles) journey through ten European countries was made possible by the use of DBT CEV fast charging points. Taking part in the 2012 Oranje Trophy event, three Nissan LEAFs as part of a procession of 30 cars, vans, trucks and motorbikes, set off from Amsterdam of June 14. Heading through Poland and Ukraine, they stopped in Ukraine to support the Netherland’s footballers playing in Euro 2012. They then drove up through Russia, all the way to the North Cape in Finland – after which they headed back through Norway, Sweden and Denmark to finish in London in time for the opening of the Holland Heineken House in Alexandra Palace ahead of the Olympic Games.
