Nissan Leaf Electric-Car Sales Slump: What's Happening Here?

I am very interested in the Leaf as a secondary vehicle in my household. The range will take me too and from work with more than enough of drive around town range to get me home. The issue is the price being so high that I could purchase a hybrid for 10,000 dollars less and in the end it would be the same cost without the limited range of an electric only. If the price was reasonable for the options and size of the vehicle, it would be a no brainer, but economically these vehicles do not add up.
