Audi hybrid car secures pole position at Le Mans

Indeed there were some outstanding performances all around from the Audi R18 team. World Championship front runner Loic Duval in the number three R18 managed to secure a time that was just 0.291 seconds slower. Meanwhile, Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen in the number two Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro set the fourth-fastest lap (3m 25.433s) behind the quickest hybrid vehicle from Toyota. This is actually the seventh time that Audi has secured pole position at Le Mans – something that head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich could not hide his excitement about. “Of course, we’re proud to be the first automobile manufacturer to clinch the pole position with a hybrid vehicle at Le Mans and to outperform the two Toyota hybrid cars,” he said.
