Warm-Up Lap: Tesla Model S P85D Dominates Dyno

In the original Model S P85+, power was set to 415 ponies from a single electric motor. With two electric motors to play with now though, the rear one rated at 471 horsepower and the front one adding another 220 ponies, the mystery figure here was torque. Once on the four-wheel drive Mustang dyno, the Tesla supercar didn’t disappoint, making available an intense 884 lb-ft of torque instantaneously, propelling the 4,900 pound vehicle from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.2 seconds. That’s quick enough to beat a cadre of conventional supercars , many much more expensive than the Model S.
