DARPA LoCo program to seek non-thermal approaches to thin-film deposition 29 April 2012 The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is seeking non-thermal approaches to thin-film deposition, including new approaches to reactant flux, surface mobility, reaction energy, by-product removal, nucleation and other components of thin-film deposition. The agency plans to issue a Local Control of Materials Synthesis (LoCo ) Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) that will formally solicit proposals. Jet engines comprise individual components that are carefully assembled into a finished product that possesses the desired performance capabilities.
