Europe fails to set targets for electric car infrastructure #greenenergy

The European Parliament has come to an agreement over alternative fuel infrastructure which fails to set firm targets for electric car charging stations. Concluding final negotiations today on the agreement, MEPs have agreed that EU countries will be obliged to develop a national action for alternative fuel infrastructure and to install an 'appropriate number of electric recharging points accessible to the public' by the end of 2020 – however there are no hard targets to define an appropriate number. The new deal is not due to be reviewed until 2017, which could mean that infrastructure building for electric vehicles will begin to slow down, in response to the weakening of legislation.
