World energy consumption to grow 56 per cent #greenenergy

If ever you needed a reminder of how important it is that we reduce our energy use, the US Energy Information Administration has issued a timely wake-up call with its International Energy Outlook 2013 . Its study projects that energy consumption around the world is set to grow by an incredible 56 per cent from 2010-2040: that's a leap from 524 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) to 820 quadrillion Btu. Most of the growth will be focused on non-OECD (non-Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries with strong economic and population growth; with renewable energy and nuclear energy to be the fastest growing energy sources: leaping by 2.5 per cent every year.
