Official: SAE wants Combo fast charging, Nissan remains committed to CHAdeMO

What is the logic behind having 1 single charging port/connector? That is one of the advantages to electricity. You can have multiple ports in several locations on a car. This is possible because electricity is not influenced by gravity and goes around a corner instantly. Why not put a Level 3 fast charge port front and center and the Level 2 port by the drivers door. Very simple interlock circuitry would prevent short circuits. This would make life so much easier for the owners of fast charging stations. The stations would require a short 6 foot cord. As a driver all you have to do is pick up the plug turn 90 degrees and insert it. Not deploy 15 feet of very heavy cable because your only charge port is near the rear of the car and the charger is at the head of the parking stall. I guess we're talking to automobile designers/engineers who are old farts that know nothing ab...
