Dutch airline KLM has developed a new type of fuel, called biokerosene, which is made from reused cooking oil. According to the BBC , the airline plans to use the new fuel on around 200 different flights between Paris and Amsterdam. The oil is gathered from a variety of sources, including restaurants and hotels, and then tested to ensure it meets the same specifications as traditional fuel. Though the airline doesn't yet have official authorization to use the new fuel, it's planning to beging biokerosene-powered flights starting in September. The planned flights will use a fuel mixture, that consists of half kerosene and half biokerosene.
