Scientists expect the sea level to rise by up to three feet by the end of this century, which could consume the mangrove fringe of Everglades National Park , increasing the damage from storms and tides and threatening the drinking water supply for 7 million Floridians. Scientists with the U.S. Geologic Survey predict that all of the glaciers in Glacier National Park could be gone within the next couple of decades. The region had 150 glaciers in 1850; today, only 25 remain. Stronger and more destructive storms could wash away centuries of history at Jamestown Fort at Colonial National Historical Park , a site the Smithsonian referred to as “perhaps the most archaeologically fertile acre in the United States.” Climate change is speeding up the reproductive cycle of mountain pine beetles in Rocky Mountain National Park , and the pine trees can’t fight them off fast enough.
