Managing Risk in Booming 'Global Bazaar' of Food and Drugs

The Food and Drug Administration, racing to keep up with explosively growing global flows of food, drugs and other products it tracks, has released a report outlining how it plans to minimize threats to public health and welfare. Much of the report, “Pathway to Global Product Safety and Quality ,” centers on plans for sharing information and coordinating regulatory strategies. There is a parallel here to efforts to limit and manage global disease outbreaks through better information analysis and cooperation.
