Toxic chemicals plague our lives. But now the nation's leading school of chemisty, at the University of California, Berkeley, is teaching a new generation of students the mantra of the future: "benign by design." In a series of upcoming radio interviews, Laura Wright Treadway , author of OnEarth 's Summer 2011 cover story "Pure Chemistry ," will discuss thow the chemistry students at UC Berkeley and elsewhere are learning to make things that won't kill us. On Tuesday, June 21 , Wright Treadway is scheduled for a live interview with KPCW 91.9 FM, the Salt Lake City NPR affiliate’s This Green Earth . The interview is expected to start at 11:10 a.m. local time. Other appearances will be added here as they air.
