Which crop is the biggest water hog? (Warning: You’re not gonna like the answer.)

I totally agree with the above comments. I'm actually getting very irritated witht the 'shock value' tactice employed with most of the articles at Grist. I feel most people who read the site understand that the situation is beyond serious and are working in their various communities to make as many changes as they can -- I see no need to continually make snide apocalyptic comments that are both unhelpful and devoid of any sense of optimism. Case in point: "Well, I can see we're all going to be very very skinny and unhappy, but at least we'll be wired and drunk!". The situation is already bad, but shouting 'IT'S HOPELESS' in a rude way from a soapbox and compiling useless lists meant to scare/worry people isn't making the situation any better.
