Now that election season is in full swing, it’s time for voters to officially start panicking … er … studying up on key state and local issues. This map should help climate hawks prepare before they head to the voting booth: It shows how people in U.S. states (plus Puerto Rico) are beginning to feel the impacts of global warming — and what voters might want to ask candidates about this fall in town halls or public forums. (Click the image above to embiggen.) Of course, there are actually oodles of climate impacts being felt in every state. But we picked the ones most likely to resonate and remind voters what’s at stake — because we sure don’t want a future where Hawaii loses its coral reefs and New England runs out of maple syrup.
