Yesterday, I spent the day covering Greenpeace's anti-coal efforts in Chicago , where two of the nation's oldest coal plants still operate within city limits. Combined, those plants kill over 40 people a year and have given hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans respiratory illnesses. Which is why concerned citizens want the plants out of their backyard. I interviewed a number of residents who had come out to watch the activists' protest, and they told me why they hope the city pays attention to their calls to quit coal. Video continues below:
