Gender discrimination, particularly in Asian and Asia Pacific countries continues unabated. A girl child has always been considered as a liability than an asset. It is unfortunate but is the naked truth and there are valid reasons - poverty, poor health, malnutrition etc., and the societal dogmas that keeps the life of a girl child in a miserable condition. Tradition and culture also plays a very important role.
