Exclusive: Carbon Trust prepares for future free from government grants via @businessgreen

The Carbon Trust's chief executive, Tom Delay, has insisted the organisation is well-positioned to cope with cuts to core government grant funding from next April, despite the prospect of the organisation seeing its budget cut by more than half. The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) last week confirmed that both the Carbon Trust and the Energy Saving Trust will no longer receive core grant funding from the government, in a move designed to support the coalition's deficit reduction programme. Both bodies will instead have to bid for any government contracts, such as those expected to relate to the Green Deal scheme, as part of competitive tenders.
