EU delays vote on quick security upgrades to carbon registries via @businessgreen

The European Commission has delayed a key vote by member states on plans to upgrade security measures across its emissions trading system (ETS), deciding instead to debate the wide range of proposals, such as a 24-hour delivery delay for all carbon credit transfers, and the option of hiding credit serial numbers. The EU's Climate Change Committee had been expected to vote yesterday on proposals submitted earlier this month that would boost the security of the current system and implement changes that will be required to create the single EU registry, due to become operational next year.
