Green Family Travel: Transportation

Green Family Travel: Transportation Despite what comes out of the tailpipe, there is nothing quite like the exhilaration of the open road. Sitting behind the wheel doing 65 mph (ok, more like 85 mph, more on that in a minute) is at least as mesmerizing as staring into the campfire or sitting on the Pacific shore watching the waves roll in. Partially to feed my need for speed and partially to introduce my kids to new people, cities and landscapes, we (my wife and I) sold our house, jammed everything into storage, strapped the kids in and hit the road for an open-ended driveabout of the Western U.S. The rub being that we were attempting to be as green as possible while participating in a, by default, non-green activity. This is what I learned. View the entire comment thread.
