This reminds me of an exchange in the movie "Time Bandits". Satan says to one of his minions "You are so blessedly free of the ravages of intelligence!", to which the minion responds "Oh, thank you Master!". How else do you explain the audience clapping to the implication that they are not the smart people? Santorum lost his Senate seat in Pennsylvania because he was perceived as less conservative than his Democrat opponent because he endorsed Specter over his challenger Toomey who was perceived as the more conservative Republican in their GOP primary. Santorum also dropped his Presidential run when it became obvious he would loose the primary in Pennsylvania, his "home" state. Yet he is still applauded by Republicans of other states?
