Map Of US Dam Removals-Few things have such negative impact on a river as dams. #Blackfish #FreeTheSnake

Map of US Dam Removals 1936-2014 Few things have such a fundamental impact on a river as a dam. Dams block a river’s flow and can harm clean water, fish and wildlife, and recreation opportunities. American Rivers has pioneered a science-based approach to the removal of outdated dams. We have been creating a running inventory of all dam removal projects we can find, and this map is a graphic representation of our long-standing research. It includes both projects we have led ourselves, as well as projects by others. We want this map to be a great tool, so if you have information to update any project (or to add a missing project), email us at [email protected] and let us know. See the list of 2014 Dams Removed Learn more about our current dam-related projects.
