Floating wind farms off the coast of Scotland could be deployed by the end of the decade, after the Scottish government revealed it could introduce a new subsidy to help accelerate the development of the innovative technology. In a surprise move, Energy Minister Fergus Ewing told the Scottish Parliament yesterday that the government will consult on whether or not to introduce a new subsidy band under the existing Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme for floating wind turbines and other turbine designs that are capable of operating in deep waters.
