06 Sep 2012: Destruction of Tropical Forests Reduces Regional Rainfall, Study Says A new study has found that destruction of the world’s tropical forests may significantly reduce regional rainfall across large regions , a phenomenon researchers say could have devastating effects for people living in and around the Amazon and Congo basins. Using satellite observations of rainfall and Linking Weird Weather to Rapid Warming of the Arctic The loss of Arctic summer sea ice and the rapid warming of the Far North are altering the jet stream over North America, Europe, and Russia.
