Tyson Foods, Inc. is back in the spotlight following yet another undercover investigation into its inhumane treatment of chickens . This time critics are also calling out the troubling conditions workers are forced to deal with as a result of the company’s unrealistic production goals. The investigation was conducted this summer by an undercover investigator for the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) at a slaughter plant owned by Tyson in Carthage, Texas. It exposes horrifying treatment birds suffer from transport to slaughter and the stress workers face as they try to work at an absurdly fast pace. In an interview, the investigator says that she witnessed, “suffering, injuries and inhumane deaths of hundreds, perhaps even thousands of chickens every day.” She further explains that employees are required to hang 35 chickens per minute, which means that eight people will hang...
