Bonn, 29 September 2015 – the CMS Family is pleased to welcome the Federative Republic of Brazil as the 122nd Party to the Convention, with effect from 1 October. The largest country in South America, Brazil is one of the most mega-diverse on the planet and hosts the greatest variety of flora and fauna in the world. Brazil also has the largest number of known species of mammals and freshwater fishes, and with more than 50,000 types of trees and shrubs, it is ranked first in terms of plant diversity.
