Green Blog: Hurricane Isaac Heads for Tampa, Site of Republican National Convention

Bad weather at an outdoor wedding, a graduation, a picnic or a pep rally is mostly just bad luck. Bad weather at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla. next week may be unlucky in more ways than one. For one thing, as this graphic from Climate Central shows, if Hurricane Isaac makes a direct hit on the host city, the resulting sea surge apparently could put the convention floor under water. For another, while no single weather event can be directly linked to climate change, people watching a flooded convention run by a party whose platform currently is silent on the entire issue of global warming and the attendant likelihood of sea-level rise might note the awkward juxtaposition.
