Emissions rose in 97% of local authorities in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland in 2010 @businessgreen

The government has been accused of "going backwards" with its carbon reduction ambitions, after new figures revealed emissions rose in 97 per cent of local authorities in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland in 2010. Statistics published by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) yesterday showed increases in 394 of 406 councils between 2009 to 2010, a reversing of the trend experienced between 2008 and 2009 when only four local authorities saw emissions grow.
