When I lived in Malibu, California I could have used a “security cat” to keep the raccoons out of my kitchen! The little rascals were so bold they would sneak through an open door in broad daylight, meander into the kitchen, stand on their hind legs, open the refrigerator and calmly scan the contents to choose the tastiest morsels! They loved hotdogs, strawberries and cake. Within a short time they became adept at unscrewing lids, popping open milk cartons and opening twisty ties. Of course, if we didn’t catch them in time, they would make an unbelievable mess that would put any teenager to shame. Needless to say, we became a lot more vigilant about keeping our doors closed, even if it meant less of that wonderful California coastal breeze! My favorite trespasser h...
