Fair's Fair!".......Mark Alan, remember that with humans, a broken bone most oftenly can be "set" and the human can walk on crutches during the healing process. With a horse, if it's a front leg, since 60% of their weight goes on the front end, that's often not even feasible, not to mention that the horse will fight coming out of anesthesia to get up, and often will rebreak the leg. Their instinct is not to just stand around and "heal". With regards to the horses used for this "event", I've never yet read how the supposed "training" is done, nor even any vet checks or pre-race requirements to make sure the horses are "fit" enough. One can't throw some pasture pet into the Kentucky Derby and nobody should be allowed to drag their cousin's friend's trail ridng horse or whatever to participate in...
