Nick Clegg has today reiterated the government's desire to accelerate the growth of the UK's green economy and ensure the country meets its carbon budgets, insisting the coalition is "unreservedly committed to helping our low-carbon sector thrive – no ifs, no buts". Speaking at a green business conference in London this morning, the Deputy Prime Minister downplayed recent reports of a rift with the Chancellor over energy policy, stressing the debate between George Osborne and the Liberal Democrats over the level of support for renewable energy and the role of gas in the UK's energy mix was simply the kind of internal discussion that characterises any government.
