Are The Latest US Storms, Floods & Fires Related to Climate Change? You Betcha!

With all the storms, floods, tornadoes that have devastated swaths of the US south in the past week (the most damaging natural disaster in the US since Hurricane Katrina , according to Democracy Now! with 300 people dead), and the recent fires in Texas, you're right in wondering if this is all related to climate change. And roughly, yes, it all is. Though there is a mixture of natural variability and changing climate at play, as Mongabay amply illustrates, it's exactly these sort of stronger than normal storms in one place, juxtaposed against record dry conditions elsewhere, are exactly what various climate models project.
