Tax avoidance is an issue of economic inequality

We need to move this idle wealth sitting at the top into the hands of those more in need and into more productive use. Tax avoidance is just one symptom of economic inequality, an underlying problem the government should use its powers to tackle. For a start, ministers could ask companies to publish their wage ratios. Vince Cable has referred to a mansion tax and others have spoken about more co-operative businesses, but rhetoric will not suffice - we need action.
