The Centers For Disease Control makes no bones about the critical nature of this nation's diabetes epidemic. As the obesity epidemic gets more and more out of control, so too does the number of Type 2 diabetes cases in this country. The CDC reports that 90 to 95 percent of the 23.6 million diabetes cases in the U.S. are Type 2 . Cases are on the rise so much so in fact that at this rate, 1 in 3 Americans will develop diabetes sometime in their lifetime. According to the CDC : Type 2 diabetes is linked to obesity and inactivity and most often diagnosed in those over 40 years of age. Diabetes is a disease in which the body has a shortage of insulin, a decreased ability to use insulin, or both.
