Lib Dem victory paves way for renewables subsidy announcement | Business Green: #GetCBE

The government is expected to tomorrow announce new levels of subsidies for renewable energy projects, after a deal was brokered between the Treasury and the Department of Energy and Climate (DECC) following a lengthy stand-off over the future of the UK's energy policy. Precise details of the new subsidy levels, which are due to come into effect from April next year, will only be confirmed later this morning. But BusinessGreen understands they are expected to be largely in line with those originally proposed in DECC's consultation on Renewables Obligation (RO) banding, meaning that onshore wind farms should face a 10 per cent cut in subsidies, as opposed to the deeper cuts the Treasury had been pushing for.
