New York City reveals rubbish solar plans

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg has unveiled plans to fit the city's 3,000 acres of covered landfills with solar panels, potentially providing enough power for up to 50,000 homes. Bloomberg announced an update to New York's four year old environmental strategy late last week, outlining proposals for the new solar parks, and revealing that he expects the plants in Staten Island and Brooklyn to be delivered in partnership with private companies.
