Trying to Tally Fukushima: Reflecting myriad uncertainties, a new study suggests that anywhere from 15 to 1,300

For the paper, which appears in the journal Energy and Environmental Science, John E. Ten Hoeve, a meteorologist and graduate student in civil and environmental engineering, and Mark Z. Jacobson , a professor of civil and environmental engineering and expert on atmospheric problems, estimated the spread of radioactive material worldwide from the March 2011 nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan.
