Dissection: Support a Student's Right to Choose: via @addthis

I think in schools there is absolutely no good reason for any animal dissection and thankfully here in Scotland, at least as far as I'm aware, it's not an issue any more. The vast majority of people who study biology in schools will only go as far as that, so there's no reason for them to have such experience. University presents more a grey area though, since the very idea is for people to pursue related careers that may require in-depth understanding of and experience with internal anatomy. That being said, I've had mixed feelings about my own experiences. I studied zoology and have performed and observed dissections. While I did find them unsettling, they were nonetheless interesting and I can't imagine there's any alternative that can quite measure up to real life experience.
