China Southern Grid launches wind consortium #green

The company will cover all segments of the wind power industry chain, from the manufacture of wind turbines to the development of wind farms. This distinguishes it from the limited involvement in wind power of the renewable energy company established by State Grid, China’s other main state-owned power company. Analysts believe that the direct participation of China’s state-owned power companies in the wind power sector will facilitate the connection of wind farms to grids and reduce related risks and costs. Others point out, however, that this may violate the principle of the separation of grid and generator ownership, which is a central tenet of China’s current round of energy sector reforms.
