Too many "ME NOW" type people. Killing our home's lungs just like individuals are willing to kill their own all in the name of pleasure now... Yes we need to protect the rainforests if we don't want to destroy our world -- they help cleanse our air, provide oxygen, support incredible variety of life, clean the water, etc... if you must have jewelry consider finding an environmentally more friendly option -- limited in #, but there are a few that think of the effects of mining on the world (Green Karat and BrilliantEarth are two to consider...I am sure there are many more though if you take the time and effort to look hard enough
