After almost a year waiting for clear, calm conditions, Helford River Gig Club have picked their day and are currently (as we speak) rowing all the way from Helford River to the Scillies! That’s a full 65 miles, in what is increasingly turning into a rather wet day. All in the name of charity. Rowers Fred Gleadowe, George Wilson, Ed Gleadowe, Patrick Hopson, Rory Loftus, Maurice Chetwynd-Woods and Charlie Samuel, who have been rowing with the HRGC since they were 12/13, are all taking part along with their coach Dave Merrick. Plus our very own Logistics Manager, Ed, is on aboard and reporting back to Seasalt HQ with regular pictures. The picture above shows them earlier this morning just off Lizard Point, below half a mile past the Lizard, the view from the support boat and the rain as it sets in for the day.
