Businessmen, Officials To Meet on Potential Sale of Lakeland Electric Jun 24 - The Ledger Local businessmen have lined up a second round of private meetings with the mayor and city commissioners as they push to make it easier for the city to sell Lakeland Electric. Steve Scruggs, executive director of the Lakeland Economic Development Council, sent an email earlier this month to Chris Chadwell, an administrative assistant with the city, asking to set up separate meetings in July at the LEDC office with each commissioner. "These would be follow-up meetings to the ones you helped Barney (Barnett) and I set up earlier this year," Scruggs wrote. "We have done our homework, so to speak, and are ready to report back to commissioners regarding a proposed LE ballot initiative."
