Weekend flood threat for Manchester and North West 22-Jun-2012 Environment Agency urges people to prepare for flooding. There is a continued risk of surface water and river flooding this afternoon and tomorrow (Saturday) across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, North Derbyshire and the Yorkshire Pennines, the Environment Agency warned today. Further heavy rain is expected across many regions during Friday and into Saturday morning. Forecasters at the Met Office have issued an amber warning for heavy rain across parts of north west England where we could see one month’s rain in just 24 hours. The Environment Agency is urging the public to remain vigilant and prepared for flooding . The public should check the Environment Agency website and Twitter feed for the latest updates and flood warnings for rivers. It also advised the public not to drive through floodwate...
