Global #EndFossilFuelSubsidies twitterstorm kicks off as #RioPlus20 draft text faces fresh criticism

The Rio +20 Earth Summit in Brazil today enters its final week with pressure mounting on world leaders to deliver an ambitious treaty that accelerates the development of the global green economy and triggers the phasing out of fossil fuel subsidies. A coalition of green NGOs will today deliver a petition with over one million signatures to leaders around the world, including British prime minister David Cameron, calling for an end to fossil fuel subsidies which, according to some estimates, are worth up to $1trn a year.
