I guess it depends on your definition on breaking through. The total installed CPV capacity is still a tiny fraction of regular PV. Considering that people still don’t treat PV like a “normal industry” in the energy generation business (since it generates a quite small part of electrical energy in the world), it’s no wonder that CPV then would be considered “not breaking trough” yet. Plus, the recently cancelled CPV projects that have been picked up by regular PV doesn’t help with the image either. I do fell pretty bad for the CPV industry as a whole though. They keep cutting cost and improving performance, it’s just that regular PV is doing it even faster. If it wasn’t for the spectacular cost reduction in regular PV over the last five years, CPV would be looking *very* good right now, it terms of solar technology.
