© HydroSpin Knowing when you've got a leak or an unusual water flow in your pipes is a big concern for water and utility companies, so smart water sensors and monitoring devices are needed to stay on top of those situations. Powering all of those monitors takes electricity, and for the ones in remote locations, batteries are necessary, which only last for a couple of years. But an innovation in microgenerators from an Israeli startup may be able to power those remote monitoring systems with energy generated from the water in the pipes themselves. "HydroSpin has developed a set of unique in-pipe generators that generate electricity from the flow of water inside distribution pipes.
